Sergio Scheer

 Short Bio

Professor Scheer is Associate Professor at the Construction Engineering Department of the Federal University of Paraná at Curitiba City, State of Paraná in Brasil where he has been working in the Civil Engineering Research Center since he was an undergraduate student (1979), acting as a researcher since 1981 and as your leader since 1991. In the same university he was member of the Planning and Administration Council (1999-2003), and also a member in the Information Technology Commission in the last fifteen years. He was Director of the Computer Center from 1994 to 1998. He works in the Graduate Program on Numerical Methods for Engineering since 1993 where his main interest are Computer Graphics applications and CAD/CAE systems integration. Since 2000 he acts also in the Graduate Program on Construction Engineering where his main focus is the Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) applied to Architecture, Engineering and Construction (AEC) sector. Prof. Scheer leads a research group focused on the ICT for Construction Industry (GrupoTIC) where has been developed web based collaborative work environments for project management, construction site mobile computing and CAD4D/5D/nD applications, as well as Internet enabled systems and applications for engineering education (e-learning, LMS and educational objects). In Brazil he participates in professional societies and since 2001 he is indicated member at the Working Committee 6 (Information Technology) of the International Association for Bridge and Structural Engineering (IABSE).

Prof. Dr. Sergio Scheer has received his Civil Engineering Diploma from the Federal University of Paraná in Curitiba, Brasil (1980). His Structural Engineering Master’s Degree is from the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Porto Alegre, Brasil (1982) and his Ph.D. is from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (1993). She has joined Federal University of Paraná in 1981.
