Ahmed Khalafallah
Dr. Ahmed Khalafallah is an Assistant Professor of Construction Engineering and Management in the department of Civil, Environmental & Construction Engineering at the University of Central Florida (UCF) since August 2006. Before Joining UCF, he received a PhD degree with Computational Science and Engineering Option from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign in 2006, an MS in Civil Engineering from Cairo University of Egypt in 2004 and a BSc degree in Civil Engineering from Cairo University in 2000. He accumulated more than 10 years of industrial, research, and teaching experience at a number of leading institutes including the University of Illinois, the University of Central Florida, Queen's University of Belfast and Cairo University. His research interests are in the fields of optimization, construction inspection, highway maintenance, risk management, and infrastructure planning. He has several publications in these fields, including his latest book entitled “Construction Site Layouts: An Optimization Approach to Planning and Managing Airport Expansion Projects.” He has received several awards and honors, the latest of which is the 2008 “Builders of the Realm Award” for outstanding research from UCF’s Department of Civil, Environmental and Construction Engineering. He is a reviewer for a number of national and international journals, including the Journal of Computing in Civil Engineering (ASCE), the Journal of Construction Engineering and Management (ASCE), the Journal of Automation in Construction (Elsevier), and Computer-Aided Civil and Infrastructure Engineering (Wiley). He is a member of a number of national and international professional organizations and societies, including the American Society of Civil Engineering (ASCE), the Construction Institute (CI), the Construction Research Council, the Crane Safety Committee of the ASCE and the European Group for Intelligent Computing in Engineering.
