Dr. PAN has gained international education and research experience in China, Europe and the U.S. She graduated from the Tsinghua University, Beijing China with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 2000 and a M.S. in Nuclear Engineering in 2003. In 2006, she earned her Ph.D in construction management from the Loughborough University, U.K., advised by Professor Chimay Anumba. Her dissertation “Construction Project Information Management in the Semantic Web Environment” proposed a framework of managing the project information using Semantic Web technologies and built a semantic-based search model for construction documents. Dr. Pan conducted her post-doctoral research on “Semantic Interoperability for Engineering Service Integration” at the Stanford University in the U.S., advised by Professor Kincho Law, from 2007 to early 2008. The research was funded by the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology.
Dr, Pan is teaching two courses, the Construction Management and the Computing in Construction Management at the Tsinghua University.
Dr.Pan’s current research interest includes construction information services for global projects, semantic-based knowledge management, semantic metadata extraction for construction documents, and the mapping of heterogeneous terminologies, engineering schemas, information classification standards, and ontologies.
